I am Thiiiiis Biiiiig.

My Little Mr. is growing.  We won't discuss weight because he says it's no ones business (actually I don't know it, not a believer of scales in the house.), but he is proud of his height!  Mama already hears those schools calling for football scholarships.  UT or LSU better save number 11 and number 17 for my boys sometime around the years 2029-30.

And for all my decor lovers, the growth chart? Fab, I know.  I will show more pics of that when I finish their room.

Pallet Art.

Milo is coming!  August 3 is the day, no time set yet.  Regardless, that means I have one week to get his and Max's room all ready for him!

One week.  Lots-o-projects.  And that is fine, because then I don't sit around thinking about the looming c-section ahead of me.  So not looking forward to that part.

One week.  Then four little feet will be running around this house.  I cannot wait!

Here is one item crossed off my list.  I have had the remainder of the pallet I made my pallet shelves from sitting on my back deck (which has its own mile long to-do list) driving me nuts.  I finally put it to good use.

A-dorable.  If I do say so myself.

are these shoes not the cutest?

One week.  Two brothers.  Buddies for life.  Dirty, noisy buddies.

Get ready for the Evans' Brothers y'all!!

A Baby Sleeps.

A baby sleeps.  And I watch him.  In wonder, in awe and with a heart full of love.

A baby sleeps.  And I give thanks.  For his life, for his accomplishments, for his room lighting smile.

A baby sleeps.  And I pray.  For his future, for his happiness, for his health.

MY baby sleeps.  And he is beautiful.

Summer Reads {add them to your list}

I read.  A lot.

I read.  In spurts.

The summer brings it out of me.  A rainy day gets a spurt going.  A cold day by the fire can also set it off.  Or it could be something as simple as nothing is on tv.  Whatever the reason, I get in a reading frenzy where I read and read and read.  Then stop.  Sometimes in the middle of a book, finishing it months later or never.

I am currently in a frenzy.  Here is what has taken over my lazy days of summer.

1. The Confession - John Grisham.  I am an avid reader of John G.  I have read just about everything of his and I feel like it has been awhile since I got lost in one of his books.  So when I saw this one I quickly grabbed it up.  It is typical John Grisham, and that is not a bad thing.  Not at all.

2. The Art of Racing in the Rain - Garth Stein.  If you are a dog lover, you relate immediately.  Told in the dogs point of view and exactly how I think a dogs mind works.  Very good story.

3. Heaven is for Real - Todd Burpo.  I have heard of this book for awhile now.  Mumblings about this kid who has been to Heaven.  I find the subject fascinating and wanted to see what the hoopla was about.  It is interesting, but ALMOST too literal.  It is like the dad (the author) took verses out of the bible and then made a story about how his kid was there and saw it all.  I found myself saying "I don't know about that" But if you choose to believe, and I do, it is  an eye opener.  I can do without the chapters being titled though, it gives away the whole chapter.  Super quick read.

I do recommend another book about someone experiencing Heaven. 90 Minutes in Heaven by Don Piper.  Better written and a better story.   And for some reason more believable.

4. The Lincoln Lawyer - Michael Connelly.   This is a movie I am wanting to see.  And a book I was wanting to read.  I cannot read a book if I have already seen the movie.  Because then the movies characters and scenes are stuck in my head and the book doesn't come alive in my own way in my mind.    So book first. Plus I want to read Connelly's other books about the Lincoln Lawyer.   This book is VERY good.  I flew through it and didn't want it to end.

5. The Alchemyst {The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel} - Michael Scott.  My current read. This is the first book in a five (so far) book series, the fifth just came out.  They are all best sellers and I predict movies are in the works so I had to get-a-readin.   I am about halfway through and it is entertaining.  Revolving around magic it is scratching a Harry Potter itch.  It is Teen Lit and geared toward the younger teen, so not the most compelling of books but not horrible and I am wanting to find out what is next and definitely will continue on to the rest of the books in the series.

One Face {many uses}

We have a new face.

It comes in a few stages.  The one above,

full blown,

and the peek.  Because one has to see if The Face is working, naturally.

The Face is used for a couple different reasons.

1. Frustration.  Like when one is pushing a dog food bowl around like a Tonka truck and it gets stuck somewhere.  One gets frustrated and we get The Face.

2. The fake cry.  Like when ones parents are not making ones dinner fast enough.  One likes to express his annoyance with this.  We get The Face.  We are not fooled.

3. Disgust.  Like when one is told to drink out of a sippy cup.  One likes to show us how disgusting sippy cups are.  We get The Face. We are officially in a sippy cup boycott.

So there you have it.  The Face.  Learn it and don't be suckered into it.  He is pulling a fast one on us all.

And just because he looks EXACTLY like his daddy here....

Have a good weekend everyone!

Beach Trip.

Yesterday we took a day off of household duties, work and everyday life and hung out as a family.  With the hubbs working nights every other week, we find ourselves needing some quality togetherness and decided a trip to the beach was in order.  So we got up early and packed all our belongings and headed out.

PS.  As Max gets older I find that we are turning into THAT family.  The family that has a huge pile of food under their seats at restaurants and now the family that has the wagon full of just about everything they own when they go to the beach.  Including the pack-n-play.  I used to make fun of THOSE families.  Now we have become THEM!  AHHHHHH!!

We wore sunscreen.  And our hat.  And our surf shirt. I was paranoid about The Mr.'s baby skin getting burnt.  Paranoid.

We ate alot of sand.

We played with all things not a toy.

We got sand between our toes.

We have cute beach bags.

Our noses are sun kissed.

We splashed in the waves.  And wore matching suits.  Mine is blue too!

It was a beautiful day.  The weather was hot the water was cold.  We ate sandy lunches.  We got sleepy and packed it all back up.  On the way home we stopped at the fish market and picked up some fresh mahi and scallops and then feasted like kings.  It was a good day.  A very good day.

Homemade Body Scrub

Mother's Day snuck up on me this year.  I was all excited about MY first Mother's Day and then I realize that while it is a day for me, I still have to remember my mom and mother-in-law!  huh, who knew.

So I needed gifts asap and am pleased with the cuteness of what I came up with.

They turned out quite lovely and are getting rave reviews.  This would also be perfect for shower gifts or just for a girl in your life that could use some pampering.  Or heck, for yourself.  Nothing wrong with that!

HOMEMADE VANILLA BROWN SUGAR BODY SCRUB

Mix together 2 cups brown sugar and 1 cup granulated sugar. Get out all the lumps and bumps.

Add 1 cup Sunflower Oil and 1 tablespoon Vanilla Extract. Sunflower, not Safflower. and Sunflower, not olive oil. You don't want to smell like an Italian Restaurant.

Mix again.

Spoon into jars with lids.

Add ribbons, decals, a scoop.  Anything you have to purdy it up.  Presentation is a must when gifting!

And BOOM!  a pretty little gift!

Ps. It is smart to add a little tag so they know what they have just received.
