Beach Trip.

Yesterday we took a day off of household duties, work and everyday life and hung out as a family.  With the hubbs working nights every other week, we find ourselves needing some quality togetherness and decided a trip to the beach was in order.  So we got up early and packed all our belongings and headed out.

PS.  As Max gets older I find that we are turning into THAT family.  The family that has a huge pile of food under their seats at restaurants and now the family that has the wagon full of just about everything they own when they go to the beach.  Including the pack-n-play.  I used to make fun of THOSE families.  Now we have become THEM!  AHHHHHH!!

We wore sunscreen.  And our hat.  And our surf shirt. I was paranoid about The Mr.'s baby skin getting burnt.  Paranoid.

We ate alot of sand.

We played with all things not a toy.

We got sand between our toes.

We have cute beach bags.

Our noses are sun kissed.

We splashed in the waves.  And wore matching suits.  Mine is blue too!

It was a beautiful day.  The weather was hot the water was cold.  We ate sandy lunches.  We got sleepy and packed it all back up.  On the way home we stopped at the fish market and picked up some fresh mahi and scallops and then feasted like kings.  It was a good day.  A very good day.

Homemade Body Scrub

Mother's Day snuck up on me this year.  I was all excited about MY first Mother's Day and then I realize that while it is a day for me, I still have to remember my mom and mother-in-law!  huh, who knew.

So I needed gifts asap and am pleased with the cuteness of what I came up with.

They turned out quite lovely and are getting rave reviews.  This would also be perfect for shower gifts or just for a girl in your life that could use some pampering.  Or heck, for yourself.  Nothing wrong with that!

HOMEMADE VANILLA BROWN SUGAR BODY SCRUB

Mix together 2 cups brown sugar and 1 cup granulated sugar. Get out all the lumps and bumps.

Add 1 cup Sunflower Oil and 1 tablespoon Vanilla Extract. Sunflower, not Safflower. and Sunflower, not olive oil. You don't want to smell like an Italian Restaurant.

Mix again.

Spoon into jars with lids.

Add ribbons, decals, a scoop.  Anything you have to purdy it up.  Presentation is a must when gifting!

And BOOM!  a pretty little gift!

Ps. It is smart to add a little tag so they know what they have just received.

"It's like we can all breathe again"

Words said by my husband on our way home from a little field trip with Max.  We took him to see the piece of the World Trade Center that is in our city and left flowers.

Yesterday was huge for our country, our family and all families who have lost loved ones on 9/11, fought for our freedom since then and FDNY and the NYPD.  Pure evil has left this earth and closure has been found for all involved.  A HUGE day in American history and we wanted our son to someway be involved.

Justice has come.  3000 people killed by this man, more in the war fought to protect our country from him.  Justice has come to the lives lost.  Justice has come to the military who silently keep fighting for us.  Justice has come to the families of the military quietly letting our loved ones go and fight.

People fear retaliation, but what was our option?  To let them attack our country and do nothing because we fear the repercussions?  That is not what this country is about.  We fight and we will continue to do so.

Today our country is unified.  You can feel it in the air.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to our President for continuing this fight until finished and to our military for bravely protecting us.    JOB WELL DONE.  It has not gone unnoticed.
