Adventures in Potty Training. {part 1}

Oh Hello.  Hi.  I hope everyone is having a lovely Thursday.  Ours is good.  We are working on some things.  What sort of things?  Well Potty Training is on the list.

But before I start, our "potty" is officially called the "tiny toilet".  And here is why.

Bahaha!!  gets me every time.  "ohh a tiny toilet for a little tiny baby..."  Just makes me giggle.  And tiny toilet it is.

Ahhhh, so potty training.  I know, I know, I hear you.. 'Wait whoa, WHOA, WHOOOOA! Potty Training?  He isn't even two!"  I get this.  But we are just INTRODUCING him to the tiny toilet.  First time he sat on it he screamed bloody murder.  We have since progressed and are now friends with the tiny toilet.  And I am convinced, absolutelyconvinced, that if he just does some business in it, he will realize what it is for and get the point of it all in no time.  I know this because my child is smart.  Smarter than yours.  (just kidding) (sort of)

Aaaaand we begin!

I know how guys are with all their reading and odd happenings that need to go on for them to go to the bathroom *eyeroll* so I make the area nice and relaxing for him.

Some reading material, a nice beverage and some supplies just in case.  I even had some tunes playing for him.  THE perfect setting.

We sit for a bit.

We check things out.

We sit some more.  And get bored. The wheels are already turning.

The door, it must be closed. The door must be closed!

Now open!

Poor thing, got his momma's thighs.

But wait a minute, things are out there.

 WE MUST CHECK IT OUT!!

Ok, we are back.   Whew.

Not so fast though.  Teeth.  WE MUST BRUSH OUR TEETH

 ok. NOW back to the business at hand.

But the darn DOOR!!

you can peeeeek out of this crack! it is So.Fun.

Realizing perhaps that mom isn't going anywhere until something happens, bebe tries to focus again, inspecting the equipment, making sure it is all right for his big moment.

Its up to par, so we try to relax a bit.

Perhaps a drinky drink will get things flowing.

Nothing.  We checked.  Closely.

It seems today is not our day.  But we have not given up!  Until next time...

Bai!

The Evans Family Christmas Tree. {part 1}

Things have been crazy, busy, crazy busy.  But this weekend it finally settled down a bit so we loaded up and cranked up the Christmas tunes and we Evanses went out to get THE EVANS FAMILY CHRISTMAS TREE.

Here is how it went.

We get there and we are on a mission.

run.

 run.

rest.

 so. many. trees.

 WE GOT TO GET A TREE!

sigh. we were overwhelmed and very excited, so daddy had to reel it in.

 search.

search.

search.

Until!!

 the perfect...

 Evans Family Christmas Tree!

so perfect we sat down and claimed it.

 Milo was neutral on the subject.

We tied it down and loaded back up, blasted the Christmas tunes and prayed it made it home.  And it did.  Until we forgot it was up there and pulled in the garage.

oops.

All was well though, just some broken limbs and the top pointy-up angel holder limb.  But nothing Christmas ending.  We plop it on the stand, bring it in and fight the lights.

 typical.

 and none of them worked.  so here it sits.  The EVANS FAMILY CHRISTMAS TREE.

 Pretty, but waiting for lights.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Friday Funny. {a post every mother *or soon to be* should read}

So you are about to have your little precious.  Or you already have.  Either way this is hilarious.

#9 - My favorite.  Because one of our first reactions to Milo was, "huh, he's not that cute."  He has since grown on us.  No shame.

Beer Brats. {a recipe}

Football is kind of a big deal around this house.  And we have found one amazing recipe for the perfect football food.  BEER BRATS.  They cook all day, making your house smell all cozy and yummy and then you throw them on the grill in perfect grillin'/football partnership.

Honey Mustard Beer Brats

Ingredients

  • 10 fresh bratwurst sausages
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced into long strips
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced into long strips
  • 1 large sweet onion, sliced into rings and separated
  • 2 cloves garlic, sliced
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
  • 2 cups honey mustard barbecue sauce
  • 5 (12 fluid ounce) can beer, or as needed
  • 10 hoagie rolls, split lengthwise

Directions

Place half of the bratwurst in the bottom of a 5 quart slow cooker. Arrange half of the green pepper,
red pepper, and onion over them.

Layer the remaining bratwurst over the top, and top with the remaining red and green bell peppers and onion. Throw in the garlic and bay leaves. In a separate bowl, mix together HALF of the honey mustard sauce, liquid smoke and beer. Use a good strong beer like Guinness.  It gives good flavor, plus Guinness has that fun little ball in it you get to jingle around.

 Pour into the slow cooker. Add more beer if necessary to cover everything in the pot. My pot held 5 beers. Try not to play the "one for you, one for me" game.  That would be a lot of beers.

Cover, and go watch your teams play fall ball. Cook on Low for 4 to 5 hours.

Preheat an outdoor grill for high heat, and lightly oil grate. Remove bratwurst from the slow cooker, but leave onions and peppers inside. Place bratwurst on the grill and baste with some of the remaining honey mustard sauce. Turn occasionally until slightly charred.

Place bratwurst on rolls, and use tongs to pull out a few of the onions and peppers from the slow cooker and drape them over the sausage. The onions and peppers are very tasty so don't forget this part!

Top it all off with mustard.  MMMMMM! So good.
Have a good week!

ps. Sorry for all the meat pictures so early in the morning.  Myself, I could eat burgers for breakfast.  But I realize its not everyones thang.  Tootles.
